Meditation Talk - 04 Jan 2017- Morning

In the Kali Yuga, the Masters have adopted different practices

IN THE EARLIER Yugas, there were different spiritual practices than what are followed now, like       pranayama, Ashtanga Yoga, and other such practices.

In Sat Yuga, the life of a human being was a hundred thousand years. And the strength of a human being was equal to ten thousand elephants. In those days, because of the strength and the long life they had, they used to do these kinds of very austere practices, like pranayama, AshtangaYoga, and japas and tapas. But, as life progressed, the karmas built up and, with the more karmas, the lifespan was reduced.

After that, in the Treta Yuga, the lifespan was reduced to ten thousand years and, likewise, the strength of a human being was reduced to one thousand elephants. But, even then, the lifespan was quite long and people were very strong, and they could still continue to do such fasting and austere practices.

In Dwapar Yuga, again, the lifespan was reduced to a thousand years, and the power of a person was further reduced to one elephant. Even then, people could do pranayamas, and they would live a celibate life, and they would still retain that strength to do the pranayamas.

But, in the Kali Yuga, the lifespan is reduced to even less than a hundred years and the human being has become quite weak. So, Masters have adopted different practices in this yuga.

The Surat Shabd Yoga that the Masters preach can be done by a child as young as six years, and a person as old as one hundred years. So, this is a very simple practice, and we should focus our attention on this practice because we have taken initiation to get rid of all our sorrows of life and death. This is a simple practice where you do not have to do any fasting. You do not have to go in the jungle, or you do not have to do any austere practices. It is a very simple path.

In the early morning, from 3:00 to 6:00, the Masters call this the Amrit Vela. This is a very good time for meditation because the mind is very quiet during this time. And even family members are asleep. So, one should wash the face and sit for meditation during this time.

So, it is morning time. We should make the most of this time. Let's close our eyes and sit for meditation and do our Simran and Dhyan very lovingly.
